Counseling

Understanding the impact of trauma on the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of our refugee student and families is of utmost importance when helping them adapt to life in the United States. To truly support our refugee populations, we must begin by recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma and how they can manifest themselves in their behavior, relationships, and family and community dynamics.

Refugee School Impact utilizes a trauma-informed approach by building positive, trusting relationships that are restorative and corrective, by supporting a holistic view of the student, and by minimizing possible trauma triggers.

Available to all refugee children (ages five to 18) attending Tarrant County public schools, our group or individual counseling sessions cover everything from cultural adjustment to grief and anxiety. Our Licensed Professional Counselors are experts in helping refugee children navigate their new home in the United States while honoring and respecting their journey and the experiences they’ve lived along the way.

All services are provided in our students’ native languages, as needed.
